Cure My Low Back Pain with Acupressure
Oriental health practitioners, both classical and traditional, engage in a range interventions originating in Asia. The practices are well accepted throughout China and in numerous areas of the world. However, they are considered alternative medicine in the other parts of the world. Components of practice include herbs, dietary realignment, movement strategies, manual intervention, acupuncture and numerous other elements.
While western medicine is founded upon anatomical function and physiology, Oriental medicine relates at least five major concepts including the human body, its life energy, nature, celestial bodies, and a higher power. It has been practice for thousands of years.
An element of Oriental medicine, acupuncture, encompasses the process of inserting and manipulating fine needles into the body to address medical disorders, including pain. Acupuncture stimulus placement sites are found along theorized lines of flow of life energy referred to as meridians. Contemporary acupuncture texts characterize meridians as theoretical targets. While there is no physical evidence to support their existence, many western physiological models include conceptual elements. In spite of this, people respond favorably to acupuncture stimulation along meridians in predictable manners. Moreover, acupuncture is not associated with the side effects of regularly prescribed medications.
The earliest identified documentation of acupuncture is from approximately 200 BC. Different types of acupuncture are practiced around the globe. Acupuncture is challenging to western medical researchers because the practice is invasive by nature (having to place needles). Scholarly reviews of acupuncture are often affected by the origin of the researchers. Nevertheless, the medical community agrees that acupuncture is safe when administered by seasoned practitioners using sterile needles. However, alternative, similar intervention approaches are available to the untrained, general public via electro acupuncture and acupressure. Acupressure delivered at the same points, along the same meridians, without needle use by the novice. As such, I can cure my own low back
One extraordinary acupuncture resource is A Manual Of Acupuncture, published by the Journal of Chinese Medicine Publications. Following many years of investigation, Peter Deadman, editor-in-chief of The Journal of Chinese Medicine, and colleagues developed an outstanding reference for the study and practice of acupuncture. With brilliant use of color illustrations, approximately five-hundred acupuncture points and anatomical features are highlighted in a very comprehensive, attractive and effective tool for the novice and expert. The indexes identify every meridian and direct readers to address health issues via Chinese medicine categorization and western medicine approaches.
